Feliz Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo is this week! This is a holiday widely celebrated in the United States, probably more so than in Mexico! The holiday is in remembrance of the Battle of Puebla, which took place in Puebla, Mexico in 1862. France had invaded Mexico, and Mexico defeated the French in the Battle of Puebla. This victory inspired them to continue to fight to keep their independence. May 5 has become a holiday in Mexico, and especially in the United States. Mexican Americans celebrate their heritage with music, dancing and food!
